Stephen M. Yingst, P.E., CBIE
President and Owner
As the President and Owner of Yingst Engineers & Associates, Inc., Steve’s special expertise is in the evaluation and analysis of commercial and residential properties. As a Professional Engineer, he has personally inspected thousands of commercial and residential buildings. His experience ranges from a 750,000-square foot shopping mall, to a 100-unit apartment building, to primary residences and houses at every stage of construction. He provides in-depth consultations with building owners on specific problems, such as basement water infiltration, EIFS (Exterior Insulated Finish System) water infiltration, mold and mildew issues, structural repairs, roof certifications, and design/build assistance. He is distinguished as an expert in the field of investigative engineering and frequently testifies in court as an expert witness.
Steve is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of Maryland. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University (Go Lions!). Steve is a member of the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers (NABIE), the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the Pennsylvania Septage Management Association (PSMA), and the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Steve’s technical articles have appeared in numerous publications. He has also received the Certified Building Inspection Engineer (CBIE) designation through a program established by NABIE.
Kathy E. Yingst
As Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Yingst Engineers & Associates, Inc., Kathy is responsible for day-to-day management of the company. In this capacity, she oversees the scheduling and secretarial functions, coordinates report review and delivery, and performs the firm’s accounting and bookkeeping functions.
Kathy also coordinates the firm’s marketing efforts and public relations through meetings with potential customers, marketing surveys and mailing of quarterly newsletters.
Kathy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pennsylvania.
Andrew D. Dionne, R.S.
Business Manager and Project Manager
Andrew has established himself as an expert in the engineering industry, as he brings over 20 years of building inspection experience. Andrew specializes in inspections for both new construction and existing buildings and has performed thousands of commercial and residential building evaluations.
Andrew is an active member of professional organizations including the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and serves on the CAI Central Pennsylvania Regional Council. Andrew also holds the CAI Reserve Specialist designation. As a recognized industry expert, Andrew regularly performs Reserve Fund Studies, Transition Studies and Physical Needs Assessments for community associations and senior living facilities throughout Pennsylvania and nationwide.
Since joining Yingst Engineers & Associates, Inc. in 1999, Andrew has become an integral part of the leadership team. As the Business Manager, Andrew oversees and supervises the company’s activities and employees with the objective of ensuring that the employees are aligned with the firm’s goals.
Andrew also serves as the Quality Assurance officer for radon testing activities at the firm and is a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) Certified Radon Testing Individual. Andrew is also the firm’s Environmental Professional with over 20 years of experience in performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Southern Vermont College where he received academic awards as Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1992, 1993 and 1994.
Brandon M. Shirk, RA
Brandon serves as the Senior Architect for Yingst Engineers & Associates, Inc. and has been part of the firm since 2010. Brandon oversees the architectural division within the firm and supervises each project from initial schematic design through permit and construction drawings. He is responsible for project administration, schedules, quality control, building code conformance and supervision of the project design and drafting staff.
As an architect, Brandon brings over 10 years of experience to the firm in many aspects of the design process. His areas of expertise include commercial, religious, amusement and residential design. Brandon specializes in developing solutions that meet our clients’ needs and budgets in a fun and innovative way. He also brings a friendly and practical approach to all our projects, which enables him to offer efficient design solutions.
Brandon is a graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, graduating cum laude in 2008. He is an active member of his community, serving on several non-profit boards and as the youth director at his church, and is also an enthusiastic Penn State football fan. Brandon lives in Lebanon with his wife, Sherri, and 2 children.
Lee E. Engel, P.E.
Senior Civil/Structural Engineer
Lee has been a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 15 years with over 20 years of experience in the discipline of Civil Engineering.
Lee’s expertise includes stormwater management/erosion and sedimentation control design for small commercial projects to large residential subdivisions, geotechnical subsurface investigations and structural design of retaining walls and wood and steel framed structures. Lee’s skills and site development knowledge also supplement our design and inspection services team. Lee is a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Design and Construction Engineering Technology.
Jonathon A. Cunningham, E.I.T.
Jon is Project Engineer for Yingst Engineers & Associates, Inc. After completing four years of service in the United States Marine Corps as a diesel technician, he obtained a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University.
Jon is responsible for performing building evaluations, structural evaluations, construction monitoring, and providing assistance with engineering and structural design projects. Jon is also a Certified Radon Testing individual licensed by the PADEP.
Gail H. Givler
As the firm’s Office Manager, Gail is responsible for overseeing the administrative team and managing work flow from initial client contact to final delivery of the work product. She works closely with our engineers and architects, assuring your experience with Yingst Engineers is satisfying and the product you receive is of the highest quality. Gail has an Associate Degree in Business Administration in addition to over 20 years of experience in the administrative field.

In her role as the firm’s Receptionist/Client Service Representative, Karen is the first point of contact for most of our clients.
